First things first: The ambience of Arth is nothing you would get to experience anywhere else in Pune. I always had to take the back seat while debating Pune vs Mumbai with my cousin when it comes to extravagant and lush dining places. With introduction of Arth I think now I have a strong case and can bash her next time around.
Designed by Gauri Khan this place screams beauty the moment you enter the humongous front door. Exuberant interiors, with attention to details left me awe struck. I was so engrossed in the variety of chandeliers, tables and the leather aprons of the steward that I almost spend half an hour checking out the intreguing details.
Gauri Khan has managed to pull off another master piece . I thought I knew what ‘exclusivity’ meant, until I entered Arth. Peculiar design and attention to detail is seen in each and every corner of the establishment. Book-wall, Solitaire diamond lights and infinity mirror setup was simply stunning.
They say slow cooked food prepared in earthen vessels with sheer love is best suited for us, humans. But in this fast paced city life it is rare that we can find someone who will confine to that. Keeping this in mind and bringing back the traditional touch of the delicacies prepared by generations, Celebrity Chef Amninder Sandhu has managed to impress everyone. Mainly focused on the North-Eastern dishes, she blends the flavorful and slow cooked food with the modern gastronomy, more on this later.
We tried the signature Cocktails like Naga-Julep and Golden Malabar which were flavored with different combinations of roots, stem and the barks of multiple trees.
Amuse Bouché : We were greeted with a palate cleanser which at first made us think, “what exactly is this?” and left us with a feeling, “This was a pleasant surprise.” Small chocolate orbs with a surprise element used as a filling.
To Begin with we tried
Yogurt Cloud : Exceptionally plated these yogurt dollops on a crispy basket were delicious
Morels Mushrooms : Sourced from Kashmir, These are one of the most expensive Mushrooms I have dig my teeth into till date. The Crispiness of Walnut and Nachni soil complements the soft stuffed mushrooms. (Recommended)
Jackfruit Tawa Boti : Not a big fan of this. WIth Jackfruit I expected it to be soft are sweet but it was crunchy and the cubes of jackfruit had lot of rawness to it.
Pathar ka Ghost : Non-vegetarians will savour the soft-textured slivers of Mutton cooked in onion-garlic paste. Served with dill chutney was lip smacking.
Kakori Mutton Kebab : The Nawab of Kakori had no teeth and the kebabs were made for him. From this you can surely guess the smooth melt in mouth texture and the nawabi flavor.
Pearl potato with dahi ki khamiri roti :Say that fast 10 times. I took this one for some sort of Dal (Curry) but there was a twist. It had pea shaped potato and it was highlight of the day. The pearl shaped potato are bound to make any girl go, “Aw! these are so cute!”
Mutton in Bamboo : This Dish is close to Chef’s heart as her mother used to prepare it whenever they used to go out on a trip. Mutton smoked in a Bamboo wrapped in a leaf has a earthly smoky flavour to it. Jasmine rice served with this is fragrant and filling.
Kali Gajar ka Halwa : This North Indian dish is what I call a sweet tooth’s delight. Loaded with dry fruits this is not a regular orange halwa we are used to relish. Must try.
Anguri Rabdi : The phyllo nest encompasing cottage cheese balls was 10/10 for presentation. For my taste buds it tasted less sweet.
Overall a Lush place with exquisite food and prodigious ambience. Arth quickly is rising the lists and we highly encourage you to keep this on top of your list for your next big day!
